Living Space

"Your home is living space, not storage space" by Francine Jay.

This quote brings up an important question: What is living space? I think the meaning of storage space comes quite naturally to most of us... it's where you put stuff. But what does it really mean that your home is "living space"?

Living to me means:

COLOR - Try adding more colors to your space. Use cloth, art, décor, furniture, or paint.

LIGHT - Make sure all rooms can be well lit. Change the blinds/curtains or add a lamp.

SOUND - Add music, water (such as a fountain), animals, or people. Invite friends over.

TEXTURE - Have a variety of textures in each room: soft, hard, rough, smooth, or fluffy!

SMELL - Maybe add candles, scented plug-ins, essential oils, or bake some goodies.

MOTION - Design a space that encourages motion. Leave room to walk, dance, or run.

ACTION - Living space is for doing stuff. Set up spaces for projects, work, play, & exercise, GROWTH - Your home should grow like you do. As life changes, change your space too. EXPERIENCES - Your home experiences as you do. Don't hide the fact that it's well used. REASON - Humans can reason. So your house should be reasonable too as well as fun.

PASSION - Your space can fuel the fire within you. Put up pics & words that inspire you.

JOY - Above all else, your living space should bring you joy. If you don't like it, declutter it.

Try to implement one or more of these words into your home in the next week. Let me know below which word speaks to you the most.
