This year I am thankful.
I am thankful for my loving boyfriend, my mom, my stepdad, my dad and his wife, my brothers and sisters, my close friends, my boss and coworkers, my grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins. My family and friends support me, love me, care for me, and experience life with me. Without them, I literally wouldn't be here. And I know there are many people who have no relationship with their families or are often deeply hurt by them. So I commit to cherish mine.
I am also thankful for where I live, my job, my income, my ability to have my own business and do what I love. So many people are stuck in a cycle of poverty. I commit to being a good steward of my resources and to use my opportunities for good.
I am thankful for my body. I am healthy. I am able to move, see, taste, smell, feel, and each breath is a gift. Many people are stuck in bed, blind, or sick. And most of humanity is no longer here; their time is over. I commit to being thankful for my life and to breath deep in each moment I can.
I am thankful for my fast & dependable car, fuzzy blankets, fun stickers, my bullet journal, Christmas décor, candles, yummy food, my computer and phone, pretty dishes, comfortable and stylish clothes, and many other things I own. Many people do not have their basic needs met, let alone having these luxuries (that I usually consider essential and take for granted). So, I commit to only keeping what I love & need and to take care of each item I have.
Now it's your turn:
What are you thankful for this year?
I recommend you either think of or write down your list. Maybe post it on your social media or text it to a friend.
Then take 10 minutes to think about what that list means for your life. How can you live and act differently based on what you are thankful for? Commit to aligning your life with what you value most.
How is your gratitude changing you?
And if it's not, how can it?
~ Let me know in the comments something new you are going to commit to this holiday season.
Happy Thanksgiving,
Elena
