A Thank-You Letter To Me

Updated: Apr 30

I just listened to this podcast episode by Mel Robbins and knew I had to do the first actionable item she talks about. And rather than doing it in my paper journal, I though I'd share it with you so you can do it too and get the massive boost to your self-esteem that's sure to follow doing this exercise...

The Exercise:

In the episode, Mel talks about two ways to believe in yourself; the first is to thank yourself. Below is my thank-you letter to myself for the things I've accomplished and the ways I've shown up for myself. After you've read mine, write or say out loud your own thank-you letter to yourself. YOU are worth appreciating.

Thank you to me,

Thank you for putting what's good for you ahead of what feels good recently. Thank you for being kind to others even when it's hard. I promise it will pay off in the long run. Thank you for investing in your business today. I know it was scary, but I am so proud of you!

I am proud of your diligence in keeping up with blog posts, social posts, client work, general business tasks, financial stuff, your marketing job, keeping the apartment clean and tidy, and even taking on the extra responsibility of helping out your friend these last few weeks. You have a lot of responsibilities and YOU are doing such a good job. ❤️

I know it's hard sometimes. I know each time you've felt like hitting snooze, rolling over, and scrolling or binging your day away, BUT YOU HAVEN'T DONE THAT, not for quite a long time. You are doing amazing.

I also want to thank you for taking better care of me recently. You've been feeding me better, forcing me to drink water (even though I don't really like much at a time), and moving me more regularly in a more sustainable way (so that also has been helping reduce my guilt and stress about exercise). You've also been taking better care of my soul. You've been putting God first and prioritizing your passions over your guilty pleasures. Thank you.

Thank you for always trying, always pushing me to grow, and always being there for me. I am so proud of the woman you're becoming.

I love you.

Love,

You

Okay now it's your turn! Take 5 minutes today to tell the most important person in your life, thank you. YOU are worth it.

You might be wondering, "But what does this have to do with decluttering?" From what I've seen from working with my clients, is that clutter causes shame and shame causes clutter. It's a vicious cycle. So, if you can interrupt that negative spiral with some gratitude for what you have done and for you you are, that cycle will start to slow down. And the more self-esteem you have, the more passionately you will take care of yourself, your life, your home, and yes, even your clutter.

If you struggle with self-esteem, I highly recommend listening to the entirety of Mel's episode as the second tip is super powerful too.

Comment on this post or shoot me an email: How are you going to start creating the habit of thanking yourself not only this once, but regularly?

My goal is to start journaling a thank you letter to myself once a week. Let me know your idea. Or just send me your own version of this thank you letter. I'd love to read it!

Like seriously that would make my day. 🥰

Talk again soon.

Sincerely, Elena Harris
